Newly Diagnosed

Hi there i am a 41 year old mum of 6 just been diagnosed with coeliac,im so down about this as i love my food,and the food in the shops that are meant for this do not look at all apealing :(

I used to love going out for meals and takeaways :( this is really upsetting me i feel so down.
Any advice would be helpful as im finding this very hard

Hi Pebbles,it can be very daunting when you are first diagnosed but it really does get better.

If you post on The Gluten Free Board (link at top left of this site ) you should get quite a lot of replies.

pebbles, this can be quite daunting but when you realise how ill gluten can make you it gets easier. don't let it stop you eating out. start initially with safe options - like salmon, steak, gammon with no sauce and potatoes/salad. as you get more familiar with your diet you can expand this and get familiar with local menues, talk to the chef or staff. I have just come back from Lanzarote where I eat out every night and the chefs did not understand me. i kept to plain food, without sauces (had some garlic butter/or garlic mayonaise and thankfully I was fine for the 14 days.
